Time for a New Pair of Boots

My boots are worn out. I’ve had them since I was thirteen. God graciously endued me with very wide feet and finding shoes that fit has always been a challenge! At the time, my parents chose to invest a substantial sum to purchase well-crafted custom boots that would fit me. What was a lot of money for them at the time has been a blessing to me throughout many years. I’m thankful to have had them!

They’ve traveled many miles with me walking back and forth from job sites, moving supplies, and even an occasional hike from time-to-time (although, they weren’t a hiking boot). When I did yard work, or helped church friends move or repair the roof for an elderly lady, they were there. They were there on my first real summer job. They’ve seen sand, dust, mud, snow, and water, been used to mark locations, measure distances, and even move dirt from time to time. I have new pair now; almost the same as the old pair, but I’ll still miss the old pair a little. Goodbye ole boots.

Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: But thou are the same and thy years shall have no end.
- Ps. 102:25-27
